My favourite guitars are 12strings ever since. I bought this 1758 in a poor shape, but after sveral hours of "tuning" it turned out to be what the Ovation guitar constructors had in mind: an Adamas guitar with a wooden top. And that´s what it is, not to compare with any other 12string Ovation (except the 1688...).

I exchanged the saddle and made the stringspacing a bit narrower, you will see that thus a 12string can be played so much easier. Most 12string makers make this same fault. I made a neckreset to restore the original neck-angle (ok, 3 neckresets until I was happy with it). I replaced the metal tuner buttons with cream-white Schallers, this improves considerably the head-heaviness of every 12string.(and matches the colour of the top) I added a small John Pearse Armrest (not to be seen on the pics), which improves the acoustic sound, but may be removed on request.

String action FINALLY is 2mm and a wee bit on E11. Playability like a 6-string guaranteed, you can only play Ovation 12string guitars with such a low action. Tuned one halfstep down, I would always recommend this, 12string guitars with concert pitch don´t sound good, are awful to play and you need tons of G-octave strings with the time.

So why did I decide to give this away? One the one hand, it has been my hobby for years to buy, improve and sell guitars, some of them stay with me for a while, some longer. And besides that I am one of the privileged and blessed people to own a real Adamas 12string guitar...and I can give this away with a quiet conscience, it´s a real good guitar.

You would not believe that this is a 27-year-old guitar when you see it.

This guitar is priceless, but I´m asking 1000 Euro for it, open for suggestions.

Location GERMANY.

Very nice... these are indeed stellar 12 strings! I have one in a burst that I will never part with.
Good luck with the sale!

It sounds incredible, but the best "rockin´" of my 12strings is the relatively simple 1656 legend, sounds like a 6string on steroids, but only when played a little harder with a pick. The Elite is a high-fidelity guitar. Just try an open G tuning, halfstep down to F# with the low Estring tuned down to B and look if your guitar still makes any sound at all -sorry, not YOUR guitar, Lonnie, but all the others who read this;-)

Incredibly Gorgeous!

And I love the alterations you made to it! You have a fine eye, and a fine hand!

I bought my 1537 from Detlef and it has turned out to be my favorite 6 string. Detlef took the time to make it a beautifully playable instrument. It sounds so sweet and plays like an electric. So from my experience, I'd certainly recommend this beauty!
