Haven't been here for years - I recognise a few names still kicking around..  How y'all doin'?

Only got one 'O' now, the '72 Folklore.  Best sounding wood topped guitar I've ever heard or played, but I rarely play it.

The good news is, the Ovation Obsession is curable.

But you've gotta WANT to be cured.

Yeah. It helps keep our minds exercised.
It's a shame you haven't been around to participate.

I guess this humorously intended slight would have more meaning to me if an exhaustive search had yielded any enlightenment on this elusive Andrea?

It was Andrea who started the "Insomniac Pop Quiz" thread... 11 years ago.

But why would one want to cure oneself from the pleasure/obsession of enjoying the playing of Ovation guitars??

Where would the newbies (like me) who discover the joys of an Ovation guitar go to for reliable, informative information??

Muzza,,, if you're still listening.. I'm still relatively junior here, so I was wondering what exactly is it you're missing from when you used to "live" on the OFC? Maybe we can fix it back up. I mean, is it lack of the former grass skirts and coconut bras? Not that I'm offering that, mind you, but we still seem to go pretty deep on Ovationism around here. Maybe try the BFLG. That's pretty deep stuff. Or chat up on the new DW wood box opinions.. or whatever. Where else is it more Ovation-speak than the OFC? Anyway, just asking.

What is missing.... People.
There used to be MUCH MORE activity on the OFC board.
Facebook has destroyed that for almost ALL of the guitar forums.
How?
In the same way that Walmart destroys all small businesses nearby.

So Sad.

I agree that it is disappointing to see the daily post average of 2.5 and days without posts. But I don't think we can blame it on facebook. FB is just messy and all over the place and full of spam, so I never used it as much as forums that have more focus and depth. Other guitar forums such as AGF are super active. However, I think that with the decline of Ovation going from it's own company, to Fender years, to limbo years, to DW acquisition, to permanent NH closure, there was just less and less to talk about. Each time something is happening, good or bad, there is a flurry of discussion ... but these days, there's simply noything happening anymore

I'm still here every day, but don't post much. I posted way too much before. I agree there's just not much excitement for Ovation anymore, but I also agree that Facebook has picked up a lot of the traffic. I don't have a Facebook page and my wife got mad when I signed on through her page and she started getting all this Ovation stuff on it. There are lots of the same OFC people over there and lots of "new" people, but I'm just not a Facebook fan.

I, too, think FB is messy and not conducive to discussions like we have on this forum. Personally, I haven't been as interested in Ovation's new stuff as I have in the vintage stuff (I'm a big fan of the BFLG). I've only been a member for a few years so I may have joined after the decline.

When posing the question I didn't really consider the Facebook thing being that big of a draw against the OFC, but I digress and must at least partially agree. There are probably a lot of people who come along and talk Ovation on the various FB pages which have some focus on it, but who also may not know that the OFC even exists in this forum. Than again, some people [with a sad state of existence] are afraid to even leave the realm of their Facebook life no matter what other avenues of expansion the topic may offer. Aside from an occasional trip to Taco Bell, Facebook is their Earth. Maybe we don't want them here anyway. I also agree with those who mention that Ovation has lost its cutting edge in the guitar world with not much new being rolled out in comparison to some of the other manufactures. Hopefully DW will further evolve to match that and will make for more chatter (yeah, hopefully). So question answered, even if it wasn't from Muzza. Thank you. And whatever.. I still like it here with y'all :-)

I have only been here a few years but it does seem like something happened (or began to happen) when the factory closed down and true Ovations became a thing you could only obtain on the used market!!

I agree with OMA

fb has taking a bunch of the traffic away from this site.

some of things make sense.....
more exciting interface
easy integration of pics
blah blah blah

even I have posted stuff on the FB OFC page to gain some traffic here

but
this page can be searched for answers and is a resource that FB will never be.

In fact I've seen people refer folks back to here for answers.....

all bulletin boards are suffering because of FB

Well, that just goes to show you..... YOUNG people, who the Ovation brand NEED, aren't even using Facebook anymore. They've moved on...and here us old folks are lamenting the impact Facebook has on the forum. lol...
