Wanna buy the new Applause 12 string Balladeer AB2412 for outdoor jams and other activities. Who has tried them? Are they anything of decent quality? |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I had an old Applause 12. It was close to the Balladeer 12 I have now. Perfectly fine instrument. I just don't play a 12 enough. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I mean my Applause was close to my Balladeer in terms of tone, but that's based on my memory from years ago, very little actual comparison, and no attempt to ensure that the same strings were used. In other words, my opinion is worth little or nothing, so I guess I shouldn't have offered it. I've never played one of the Applause 12 strings less than 20 years old and my Balladeer is almost 20 years old. The Applause was of decent quality. I paid $125 for it and sold it for $100 a few years ago, which might give you some reference point |

Location: Sydney, Australia | I had a Celebrity 12 string, but the action was unacceptably high and the truss rod adjustment was frozen (the saddle was quite low). If you're playing outside, I wouldn't worry much about tone, but would be just concerned that it was playable. If you can try before you buy, then that's all I'd look at for the purpose you want. If you can't try, get them to send you a close up photo of the height of the strings at the 14th fret. |
