Location: Northern NJ, USA | Morning All....I have a 12 year old CC167 with a
flat finish on the head. I'm replacing the Ping
tuning machines with gold Grovers and would also like to add a high gloss finish to the headstock.
Is this something I can achieve with Carnauba or automotive waxes or do I need to go the Nitro Lacquer route??? Thanx!!!! |

You can try with the wax and it will do a little but probably nowhere near what you want. |

Location: Northern NJ, USA | That's what I thought Mauvais. My next question I guess is what makes nitro lacquer so special. I'm an old school furniture maker and would put high gloss MinWax varnish on everything. Never put a finish on an guitar before and I'm hesitant to use a 'Home Depot' product on it. I will use lightly applied naptha to remove the Martin wax I use beforehand. |

You can see the results in my gallery and the photos of the papoose which had a satin poly finish and is now gloss. That said, I take no responsibility for how your project will turn out. |
