Location: Illinois, U.S.A. | I was surfing around and ran across an audio interview with Don McLean,of "American Pie" fame. In it, he tells how he prefers his guitars set up, choices when buying a new guitar, guitar care, guitar cases and traveling, and so on, and on. It primarily refers to his Martin guitars, but the message is transferable to any maker, really.

Location: Chicago | Just listened to a version of "Castles" on YouTube--a much older Don... wow how time has flown. My personal favorite was his tribute to Van Gogh. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Castles has been on my list of songs to learn for years, but I've never even figured out the intro and never found a decent tab. When I saw the YouTube clip I noticed he capoed it up a couple frets, but never got much farther than that. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | During the holidays, I'm going to finally tune one of my guitars to a drop D and start learning some of these songs. That was one of my excuses for having another guitar, but I've never done it. The 99 Collector's doesn't get used enough, so it'll be my drop D guitar. Then I can bore our friends who ask why I have so many guitars and they won't understand what I'm talking about, but it will sound like it makes sense. It's all in how you present BS. |
