My wife and 17 yr old son will be in Nashville this Saturday through Monday for a visit to Vanderbilt Univ. Anyone here playing a show in Nashville this weekend?

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated on where to take a 17 yr old for great music, or music related sightseeing. He is not a big country fan, but he is a very accomplished violinist. Opryland is probably not going to interest him.

Is there an authentic Japanese restaurant in the area?

Is Nashville open on Sundays? We've gotten used to Utah where I wouldn't think of going to a museum, tourist spot, or music store on a Sunday.

Tennessee is full of heathens. You should be good to go...

FlySig -  Is there an authentic Japanese restaurant in the area?

There are millions of Japanese Steakhouses in the South. Most are OK, but just.  I tend to stay away from sushi places in the south, with very limited exceptions.

In Nashville, I found that Virago was very good for sushi.  Kobe Steakhouse is the place to go for Hibachi style.  Both are in the downtown area.  I'm not a local, so these are just an opinion from a traveler.

Even though it's all about country music, the Country Music Hall of Fame is a very worthwhile experience for just about anybody.

There are some fiddlers I've seen in Nashville that will absolutely knock your son's socks off.  Find one of those for him to watch.  ;-)

Bob is correct... Flysig. Kobe Steakhouse is the best here. Vanderbuilt area, west of downtown.

Sorry to miss you again, Paul. I'm in the throws of the first bout of flu I've had in 5 years. Uggg.
Enjoy yourself.

The title should now read "Last Weekend". My son had a fun time with his mother in Nashville for 2 days, though they didn't do any real tourist stuff. He loved Vanderbilt and what he did see of the area. They went from Nashville to Minneapolis where he was not so impressed with the weather even though it isn't winter there yet.
