Location: Wooster, Ohio | A friend just let me have for a little while a old shinny bowl Ovation he bought used in the early 70s. I don't know that much about Classical Nylon String Ovations. Guitar is in great shape for an original shinny bowl. Pics follow any info would be appreciated. Date of manufacture, rarity, value? Thanks. Steve |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Nice guitar. That's actually the second generation Classic. First gen had a different rosette. Looks to be in decent shape, how's it sound?
Should have Fan bracing, ebony fretboard and Braz rosewood bridge. Unfortunately, whilst certainly rare, these don't have much interest as far as collectable or valuable. I've had a few of them pass my way over the years and always enjoyed them very much and thought they under-apreciated by the public.

Location: Florence,SC | Looks just like mine except inside label says:Model_1113-4 Serial Number_B681. Interesting that your serial number is B679 ... must be siblings or at least cousins! Years ago, I had another Classic with the non-shiny bowl (the one with the curly-cue at the end of the fretboard). The shiny bowl has a much brighter, clearer sound than the other one I had before, but it was my first Ovation and I was thrilled to have it. |

Location: Right now? | I have one just like it ... the number on mine is B089. The rosette is inlaid and it has the tootsie roll bridge, etc.

Mine has an inlaid rosette ... again, it's number B089. I think it's a first generation. It's slippery but sounds fabulous. I'm surprised that you say that they don't have much value, 'cause I was offered a pretty impressive price for mine. Maybe because it's so clean, I dunno. I can't find any info on it either. Thanks for what you provided here. Willa
