Location: Ohio | Just purchaseed an Academy that I plan on using for a camping guitar. Has not arrived yet, but was told there is some residue on the neck fomr some kind of tape.
What can I use to remover this safely and not damage the neck?

Sometimes, an alcohol swab works, other times, fretboard oil.
Stubborn stuff requires lighter fluid, Goof Off, WD40. The neck of my Academy is glossed. I don't think any of this stuff will hurt it in moderation. Just clean off the solvent when you are done. |
