I had the same problem when I played the Deacon. I thought it sounded great, but I was sure that if I brought it home it would just sit on the stand like the rest of them, while I played the UKII.

I never minded the shape, I'm not a fan of the sound of a Breadwinner/Deacon. It's really hard to like anything else when you start out on a UKII, so I traded my Deacon to Miles for....

It's really hard to like anything else when your first Ovation is a Deacon. You are a young punk, so the best they had to offer when you came up were those styrofoam guitars. I do like that wood one, though.

I didn't have a roundback until about 30 years after buying the Deacon. Damn thing keeps falling off my lap.

Mark, I should have thought of parking that GC guitar with you. It might have stayed with you for years!

Ah.... the wood one is just smoke and mirrors. Still "styrofoam", but with the heart of an Adamas laminated to the top (the thin birch laminate used in the Adamas soundboard). Then they put some lipstick on that pig with the binding, and there you have it.

Beal musta been bored that day.

It was 22 years for me before I tried a roundback.
