I always play ON the neck. Did you mean the nut?
If that's the case, then bvince has already given my answer. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | My palm is always on or just in front of the bridge for muting. Not sure if that answers your question. I have to vary this position slightly when I play a Strat because my finger positioning can interfere with the volume knob. When the guitar goes dead, I know I've inadvertently turned down the volume. It happens to others as well. This is why we occasionally see Strats being played with a missing volume knob. |

Location: Chicago | I use the nails of two fingers to support my left hand. With the raised rosette on the old Legend I get "pushed" down toward the bridge to avoid bumping and clicking. With the Adamas i've installed a broad clear pickguard so I can play anywhere. On that axe I tend toward the neck: a warmer tone. |
