Poodle skirts etc. I was not a scentient being at that time and although I did watch a lot of "Happy Days" as a child the only songs I can think of are Rock Around the Clock and Splish splash. So any suggestions for songs in the genre that would appeal to teenagers and be jitterbuggable?

Chances are the audience will recognize them also. http://www.joshhosler.biz/NumberOneInhistory/selectMonth.htm do a google search for #1 hits and wikipedia will pull up a pretty decent cross reference chart.

It helps if their is a connection to something they know like a movie. Last night we worked on Johnny B Goode, those guitar riffs are timeless, and there's the classic scene in Back to the Future where Michael J Fox takes off on the Chuck Berry lead and then it morphs into Van Halen type stuff. American Graffiti and the Buddy Holly Story are in our movie queue now.
