I just joined, and I wanted to share my gear and pertinent activities. I currently own three solid-body Ovations: a Viper that I salvaged from a guy who recklessly modified it (I smoothed his mods, had a new pickguard made, painted it, and installed 2 DiMarzios; I love this thing!); a Preacher Deluxe that also has a new pickguard with 2 DiMarzios and no EQ/preamp, currently getting a new bridge that I'm piecing together myself from other bridge components; and a Preacher Deluxe 12-string that is being sold / traded for a Viper neck that will find a new home on a Viper/UKII style body that I plan to make. I also have plans in the works for a Preacher bass(!). I'll post images later. |

It still needs more work on its finish, but I like playing it too much right now to take it apart. I don't think I have any handy that show the Preacher. Sorry! |

Anyway, the white-tipped one is the pickup selector, the next one is a coil-tap for the bridge pickup (I'm pretty sure...), and the last one is phase in/out. I think I'd like to add a switch for a coil-tap for the other pickup. I also placed the volume control a little too close to where I can hit it when I play. Finally, I'd actually prefer a 3-ply white-black-white pickguard, in retrospect, since it might actually look better and also be thicker and stiffer. I'll do those things when I decide to upgrade the paint job... someday... By the way, the output jack is mounted Les Paul-style, on the side, as on the standard Preacher. |

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA | Well... I have the original bridge, but I was never overly impressed with it. So, I bought a Carvin bridge and set out on this enterprise. I already have a new design adaptation in the works, so we'll see how that goes.
I know... many people love the original bridge, but I'm so pleased with the Carvin that I mounted on my Viper that this seemed to make sense to me. I love how my Viper sounds and plays, far more than the PD. But, I love how my PD looks, and I've owned it since my parents gave it to me in 1979 for my 16th birthday. I could either hang it on the wall, or keep trying to make it sound and play better. |
