Location: NE Ohio | Hey, I just picked up a 70's Viper in a transparent walnut finish. The only thing wrong is that the tuners are not original. Anyone have an idea if any current tuners would fit?

Thanks in advance! |

You should post some pictures!
The Black plastic Viper tuners with the two eyelets are Schaller M6Ns or something. Mr. Big should be by soon, he can get you on the path to success. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Nice grab. I looked at that one before I got mine. Our serial numbers are very close. If you are concerned about originality, the tuners aren't the only issue. The pickguard and volume and tone knobs might be replacements. The jack on most that I've seen is right between two screws at the bottom of the pickguard. Most of them, including mine, are cracked around the pickguard. A lot of people didn't like the black plastic around the tuners and replaced them. The originals would have had the Ovation guitar logo on them, but I don't know if that was true throughout the run. New ones would probably have the Schaller S on them. |
