It's not that I play it that much, but it's just a fun guitar to play when I do. I also have it ready in the studio in case someone needs a "rocker" and an introduction to Ovation solidbodies.

Then I got a great offer for my other honeyburst so I let it go too. Went to a super cool guy that I'm still in touch with so, I'm glad it found a new home. Then I found a wine one and bought that (from excey here on the board). My goal was to have one in each color. The irony being that now the only color I don't have is honeyburst.

Ickygoo, yes I bought the GP from Future, as far as the 'apples and oranges comment, I definately prefer the fuller sound of a Les Paul, or a guitar similar to it over a Strat, I hope that this comment will clear that up for you.

Much like a Les Paul only the body is wider and longer with a 2nd cutaway. The GS is a more common solidbody of the era. It was a bolt on strat copy. GP stood for Guitar Paul. GS stood for Guitar Strat. GS's are worth between $100 - $300 usually. GP's are high in demand because of Josh Homme of Kyuss / QOTSA. He brought them to everyone's attention.

Joined: February 2002 Posts: 52 Location: PA | I'm sitting at home right now with a big grin on my face. I just walked out of my local music shop with a Black GP1....for under $300. It's not in the greatest condition, but it plays great and sounds great, looks real nice next to my sunburst model too. Any one who is searching for one of these....keep your eyes peeled!! They do pop up every once in awhile. I almost walked out of the store with out seeing it, before I heard someone mutter "Ovation Solid-body??? eeeessh!". At that point I walked over, picked it up and said "I'll take it!" The Sunburst model I found at a yard-sale for $250....but that was back in 1989.
