Greetings All! I recently discovered this forum a few months ago and have enjoyed the content immensly. I finally got up the nerve to create a Log-in ID after missing out on Stu Gott's 5868 Angel Step Elite last week.

I have been searching high and low for a mate for my 1991 1868-5 Elite, and always seem to be a day late or a dollar short in my travails. I was hopeful that someone on this sight has or can point me to one of the following (I did not see these in alpep's inventory):
1: A 1984 Collector's Series
2: A 1992 Collector's Series
3: A 5868 Angel Step Elite

As a point of interest; during my long quest I did discover a music store in North Dakota called Jacobsen Music that claims to have a complete set of "never been used Collector Series" for sale as a complete set. Way out of my price range... the owner want's something like $30K for the set. Thought maybe this forum would be interested. If someone does buy it maybe they can let me have a crack at the 1984 or 1992 in the set. Here's the website anyway.

Thanks for your time,
Mike O

Welcome to the board Mike. If you visit regularly, the guitars you seek will eventually show up!

Thanks Stephen,

I'll do just that. In fact my mouth was watering over your Angel Step 12 string. Glad someone else put me out of my misery.

Sorry you missed out on the 12-string...wonderful guitar.

You should really do a search on the 1537 and it might move up very quickly to the top of your short list. It is considered the wood top adamas and is one of the best sounding ovations out there.

I would hate to see you miss out on 2 of the guitars I am offering up this weekend :D

I always wondered if anyone had actually collected the entire collectors series.....well now I know.
I think it'd be a hard sell to unload the entire collection to a single buyer....who knows Mike you may just get your wish in the end.

I know a couple of guys who have one of every year of the Collectors', but not necessarily every color variation. In years like '87 and '90 and '92, there were options on color and bowl depth, and in '85 and '86 there were both 12 and 6 strings made.

Stephen,
Your 1537 is a beautiful guitar. I have an older CC026 deep bowl and I assume the 1537 has a more robust and throaty feel (better I'm sure). I am somewhat more partial to the shallow bowl when playing in my church band and I also like the look of the cut outs as well. I suppose I could make an exception on the deep bowl if you wanted to sell your Book Elite. :D

Tempt me no further, I have a wife a kid and a hunting dog with a $1000 bionic leg. ;)

I have an elite 5868 ASW 6 string that i'm thinking about selling. It's flawless and I just spent over $150 in intonation and setup. It's in brand new, out of the box condition with original hard shell case and all paperwork.

let me know if you're still interested. I might ebay it also.

Hey Mike O, Sorry you missed my 5868 by one day. That sounds like the story of MY life. At least we got to chat. And I got my ego boosted by you remembering my name from the musical dark ages.
Welcome... Stu

-Hillbilly, best was to get a response is to post a new thread in the for sale forum, post up pics in the gallery for people to see, and give a price if you have one in mind.

Thinkin bout selling won't get a lot of response! ;)

Thanks Hillbilly,
I'm pretty new to this forum as well. I think Stephen has a good suggestion. I'm sure there are others besides myself who might be interested as well. You can also link to my e-mail through this board if you want to send some photos direct as well. Look forward to seeing your angel step, and am certainly curious what you are asking for it.

I'm hot on the trail of a couple of other leads as well and I'm not sure yet which way to go.

So many guitars so little money...

Cheers,
Mike O

Hey Stu....great to hear from you again, glad your sale went through smoothly (good for you, bad for me)...Looking forward to some of your recordings. My wife and son and I are still contemplating a trip to Florida next month, if the hurricanes will oblige :D
