Anyone adjusted the truss rod on an 80's Applause? Mine has non-wood neck but wood fretboard and the rod is adjusted via and allen bolt inside the soundhole. Attempting to tighten, it seems to take a lot of force to move it. Is there a way to tell whether it's at the limit of its adjusment? If it is, then tightening further will probably strip the threads.

I shaved a smidgin off the saddle and it plays much better with very little change to the sound (though there's only about 1.5mm break at the bass end now)
