I have recently inherited a 1986 collector's series 12 string. The model number is 2986-6 and the serial number is 883. The action was really high, but after a truss rod adjustment, taking a shim out from under the saddle, and some light gauge strings I found that the guitar sounds and plays wonderful. I don't have any plans to part with it, but from what I have read this is a pretty rare guitar. Can anyone tell me an approximate value?

Also, this is my first post, and I don't have a clue how to add pictures. If someone can tell me how to do it I'll be happy to post a few.

First of all, welcome to the Ovation Nation!

As to posting pics, go HERE.

Others will be by to help ya on the value. Most of us do a history search both here and on eBay to get an idea as to the current market value of items.

Presently the market is depressed for sellers.

Again, welcome!

Welcome! The 86C were the matching white 6 & 12, shallow bowl, with ebony necks & black machine knobs, right? Cool-looking guitars. You can't beat Ovation 12-strings for sound, playability or durability.

+1 on iffy's advice & suggestions

Welcome to a newer member than me and a very nice tool is the 12 stringer. I am looking for one to match my 1986-6 as the pair would be very tidy together. They are very nice looking gits as they are based on the Balladeer but with a very nice soundhole inlay.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on the 1986 collectors so just enjoy the babe and think yourself lucky to own it. My 6 has an enchanting ringing tone on acoustic but very powerful on lecky which is a Fender Pro 175 combo.

Thanks to everyone for the information. I have uploaded some pics of the guitar, but I'm not sure where they ended up. I was directed to a ".ning" site, so I signed up there and posted them, but I just used Jacob as my name instead of Jacobd, so you might keep that in mind if you are looking for the pictures.

Thanks again.

If you can Jacob just post the link like mine above.
If there is one out there, please let me know.

dave.
