Hi,
For whatever it is worth, I thought I would tell the world, or whoever reads this, how much I like the new 12 fret to body slothead.
I have played it multiple times and it sounds better and better to me. very sweet tone, with long sustain, and clear string clarity. The neck is easy to get around and overall it just feels right.
I have not plugged it in yet due to amp in storage, but thats another story. well, that's all I wanted to say, peace mike

fugot-Is this one of the first ones that went back for repairs or is this your original 12 Fret? What wonderful guitars! I'm looking forward to getting mine back from the Mothership.

fly guy,
No I kept mine. It has some "natural imperfections", but they do not bother me enough to let it go. No one else that I've shown the guitar to has even noticed them. since I plan on being in Ct. for the summer, I might just bring it up to factory and see what they think. (my biggest issue is with black paint on headstock). But I love playing it...haven't even taken the blue tag off it yet..maybe when the new smell goes away or the tag falls off by itself. it's my minnie pearl tribute :)

I absolutly hated sending mine back. Al talked to Ovation and they said with the problem with the slot on the slothead it had to go back. In fact I just got a call from Ovation today and was told that they are going to have to replace the whole neck on mine. The slot on one side was not cut uniformaly with the other one. Since there are none left at the factory I was told they are making a new neck for mine so it will take a bit longer to get back. That is fine with me. That guitar is just magic! The feel, the sound, the whole thing. I love it and look forward to getting it back but don't want them to get in a hurry with the repairs. I can wait.

I'm with Mike. I love to hand to people who are much better than me just so I can hear it and see the expressions on their faces. Yesterday somone thought I played "tuned down" because it had so much bass, and the action was so easy. I'm not kidding.

I really like my U681T as well. It is a really sweet guitar. Unfortunately, I bought it and a '05 and need to sell one or the other and the U681T is up for sale. Tough decision, but I feel the '05 will be more of a daily guitar, whereas the Adamas will be more of a collector's, if that makes any sense at all. Both superb guitars.

AFG,
Are you implying that the factory has already sold out the allocation of 100...hence no necks available? Great news if true...means they are more popular than anticipated.

They told me "there were none left in stock to replace mine with so they were going to have to build me a new neck" since they couldn't repair the "deformed" slot in the head. That sounded to me like they were sold out, but who knows...

It very well could be that the necks have been alloted to guitars that're currently on the line . . .

. . . tho, it would be good news t'hear that the allocation has been soldout.

They said they had no more of the U681T guitars or the necks used on them. Thats whey they can't just replace the whole guitar with another, or get a new neck off the shelf to replace the one with the defective slot.
