Location: Upper Left USA		I initiated the poll asking "Do you play in a Worship Setting" and got a great response. Thanks to all that signed on and thanks to all that probably thought "another churchy post" and went along.

What I wondered about was how many Low budget performers (Praise Players?) have found Ovations to work for them. My guess is that the ease of use and relative affordability of the O's is something that draws us in.

Am I just a tainted Ovation Nut and destined (predestination?) to see things this way or is it a factor? What say the Board?

the great thing about ovations is that you can tweak them to sound good no matter what setting or PA. As you may know in a "worship setting" you can go from a cramped place with an old bogen tube PA to a boomy spacious hall. a couple of tweaks on the preamp and you got a good sound.

I'm one of several people who lead worship at our church.
I love that I can use my O's in any situation I find myself. I can put my pedal on bypass and get that beautiful, clear, sharp tone - or kick it up and get seriously rockin'.
With the notch filter, I can even go to my 'war cry' setting on my pedal without fear of feedback.
The guy I play with wouldn't dare do that with his taylor... of course his only cost $1200 more than mine... not really a fair comparison...

Location: Upper Left USA		Kyle - you got me on that one! I am part of a Presbyterian church at this time although I don't feel very denominational. I'd probably attend anywhere they let me play!

Location: Central Florida		I lead a rhythm section that plays every Sunday and we're also part of a larger Praise jazz ensamble that plays once a month. I've discovered over the years that Ovations are so versatile in just about any application that for me it's a no-brainer that whatever musical environment I'm in my Ovations are gonna be my tools of choice. Our church is also blessed to have an incredible sound engineer so that all I have to do is plug in to a direct box, and he throws in a dash of compression, reverb and something called an exciter that makes my O's sound like a million dollars directly through the house PA system.

Location: Wooster, Ohio		In our praise bank we play two times a week. You are always bringing in the guitar setting up. Ovations just are workhorses. They sound great and you don't feel they will be destroyed if you don't have the time to baby them. I have played three ovation over the years at church and none of them really show any wear.
