I contemplated this before posting the poll. I fiqured P&W (including Acoustic Christian) was really covered by the other genres. I would classify AC as folk. I'm not trying to pigeon hole anything, but if I were to listen to Inspirational Bluegrass, I would classify it as Bluegrass...

And Steve...Thanks. That little wooden roundback is fun. It doesn't slide around either. Stays put on my knee just as a wood box. Purdy to look at too...

I liked the Crap comment, but in my case that's usually the description of how I play rather then what I play.

I knew there had to be at least one Bluegrass nut out there!

We have exceeded 10% of total membership, a legitimate sampling size to predict the distribution of the larger membership....

Are the "Other" respondants mostly made up of Inspirational/Gospel/P&W?

and it looks like we have one Helenic Scholar in our midst...

I got to ask. What kind of reaction do the rest of you get in a Bluegrass jam situation when you show up with an Ovation. I took one of mine to the jam that I visit when I can, and they looked at me like I'm from another planet. When I show up with one of my Martins I'm welcomed like it's old home week. My Ovations hold thier own in most situations. Well maybe not Bluegrass. Tim, I to am a Bluegrass nut. Mostly a folkie but play Bluegrass whenever I can.

I just Introduce myself as Beldar, from France.

I was asked once, "why my guitar didn't have a belly button?"

Many Martin & Taylor Players tend to look down their noses at Ovations, but they draw their opinions having played one or two lower priced Ovations in their local music stores. The ones that have been there awhile and need new strings.

I have played one or two $3,000 to $6,000 Martins that I really didn't like the sound of, and have picked up a $400 Washburn or $500 Ovation Celebrity and thought they sounded as good or better.

Beauty is in the eye or ear of the beholder.

OK now I'll get off the soap box and let someone else have a turn.

Oh by the way I voted Other since I play mostly Gospel music which may have a Country/Folk/Pop/Bluegrass/Soft Rock Style .

My niece (also God-child) has a wood box Fairmont yet her boy friend is fine with that...gave (long term loan) a nail polish red GS and 30w Marshall amp this weekend...he thought she was getting a plastic guitar.

He went nuts over the GS, thinks life is unfair since he doesn't have an uncle with O's. Now he wants to come over to play the "plastic" O's. We'll see if he still wants to get a Taylor (Walnut) W10 - doubt if he'd ever be able to afford it.

My "other" vote is because most of what I butcher is considered "alternative".

I had to check Country cause at my age when I play "Orange Blossom Special" at full speed, it kinda sounds like "Good Night Irene". Hank Snow played a big flat top and so did Mac Wiseman, but Hank Williams and Ernest Tubb snuck in some electrics, then came Merle Haggard and Buck Owens with wide open Teles and folk and bluegrass faded.

Why wasn't Cajun included?? I might have voted for that, is "Blue Bayou" cajun?

I think Linda Ronstat's cover would be considered... more Zydeco.
