I have half-a dozen different kinds. My fave is the Intellitouch (black model). Doesn't hear room noise. On my hammered dulcimer I have a Sabine AX2000W. Never had a tuner go bad...some are just bad from the start. I need a tuner that grabs the note quickly and holds it for a long time. The cheap ones don't do this well. John <>{

I second the recomendation of Intellitouch. You can use it in high noise areas with no problems, and it's backlit so you can use it in the dark as well. Best tuner I have ever used. There are 2 models and like the above post said, get the black one. It is has a few extra features (programable)

black intellitouch.

I do find it to be a little awkward to clamp on the Ovation headstock. Works best for me to clamp it on the treble side, just below the high E machine.

I personally do NOT recommend Intellitouch, they don't pick up the lower strings too well. I spoke with their rep. at the NAMM show and they admitted the problem as well. The best tuner is the built-in one in Optima preamp. from Ovation!

an old korg GT6 but it eats batteries so I only put it in to tune and then take the battery back out!

Korg CA-30 Cromatic works well. About $20.

I also like the Korg. I have a problem with my built in Optima. It seems to go on by itself and wears out the battery and won't turn off once I use it. The Korg is easy, cheap and accurate.

I have a Peterson V-SAM strobe tuner.
Expensive but worth every penny.
Comes with a clip on sensor for acoustic guitars

My 1st tuner was the black Intellitouch, good to start with, but had trouble with some notes being picked up...

Bought the Peterson VS-II for $189, when they 1st came out and love it... Accurate to 1/100 of a semitone, I use it sometimes to pick up chords from recordings when I am trying to learn songs w/o sheet music!!! Get the optional remote clamp-on mic...

They also make a stomp model for stage use...

Black Intellitouch - clips on to about anything, of any shape and tunes real nice. I haven't had any more problems with low strings than I do with other tuners.

What you get depends on your needs.
If you're playing in your living room or occasional coffee house, get one of the cheaper Korgs; $20 at the most. I have one,it's accurate and battery last long time. If you're out gigging on a regular basis, then get the boss pedal tuner. Or get the Peterson strobe tuner.
Nothing beats just using your eats though.

Korg. I don't remember the model number but it works great. I think I got mine for $12 and I've had mine at least 6 years.

+1 on the Korg CA-30. I also have a Sabine PIK (one of the first pick-shaped tuners Sabine made). The Sabine has gone to oldest son; it works well, but goes through batteries like nobody's business. The CA-30 is fine, doesn't seem to be so power hungry.

EDIT: And it will tune my uke. ;)

I also have the Korg CA30- inexpensive, accurate, and in the 4 years I've had it, never had to change the batteries.

It also plays a full octive of reference tones with selectable pitch from 410hz to 480Hz

If you plug into other pedals or plug in an electric with your guitar Boss Tu-2 all the way.

A Sabine AX2000? It's the one with the pad that sticks on your guitar is very nice. Expensive though and you have to put it on the top of the O vs on the side where the body drops down and meets the neck on a wood guitar.
