Aw...

After a great gig last night with my garage band, I've just dragged my carcass out of bed and focused on the screen long enough to win this little beauty (Thanks Jerome!)

My Breadwinner

Hope to meet the seller in London on Wednesday.

Stephen, I'm sorry - I'm not gonna be able to bid on any of your kit now, that's the next couple of months rent you're looking at, right there.

Now all I need is for Everton to beat Liverpool this afternoon and I'll be a happy, happy man...

Congratulation!!
I'm so happy for you Jimmy!!

Philippe the seller seems to be a very nice guy.
And 600 Euros is a good price for us in Europe.
This Breadwinner is surely one of the first ever made. A great piece of Ovation's history.

Please, let us know when this babe is in his new sweet home.

Jérôme :)

Don't spoil my weekend just for the sake of yours!! Wink.

More seriously, enjoy the Breadwinner. Mine is getting it's first outing this evening at a band rehearsal, and I'm so looking forward to it.

Hope your gig went well the other night.

JB

Great looking axe Jimmy. I always thought the white breadwinners were really cool looking.

why are Ovation rare solid bodies cheaper than the modern acoustics? Also why aren't they made anymore, and why do they go for so cheap with bands like QOTSA using them?

The partidular model that QOTSA use typically sell in the $2000-2500 range. Not cheap.

The other O solid bodies just never got the repect the deserved so their resell value is relative to the unknown stature. As more of the vintage magazines write about what awesome guitars they are, the market is slowing going up.

Ebay prices have probably climbed 25-40% over the last 8-12 months.

Grab em now, while they are still a bargain.

Busybusybee...can we call you B3?...congrats on the LX. StephenT28 is right on with his assessment of the current state of O solid bodies...except he should have said:

That chav from QOTSA plays a GP, so all the other chavs (and a fair number of townies and scallies) have been driving the price up for the rest of us. Heck, it's these self same neds and charvers who turns their noses up at the superior Deacon and Preacher, but...well, you know how they operate. It's all about the bling and parading about like they're nails (well, until you actually confront one of the little pikers and they wet themselves and run off).

I wish I was properly english! I have an american accent and only live in England because my mom moved here during college and never left. The ovation prices here are ridiculous, and my other dream of owning a blackface fender amp is practically shattered, by ridiculous import prices.

Not quite correct my little nearly-english friend - Ovation prices here are way more than ridiculous.
My custom Country Artist on order from al is less than half the list price for an uncustomized one - even though I'm paying shipping and insurance and then 3.7% import duty and 17 1/2% tax on top of that.
It's no wonder Ovation don't sell many guitars here.

Oh, quitcherbitchin...you guys have:

a) real fish and chips
b) Guinness that doesn't have rocket widgets
c) cheap flights to Paris
d) The Welsh and Scots to make fun of

We don't get none of that here. ;)

EDIT:

And I forgot:

e) real rarebit (the Welsh are good for something, eh?)
