Location: atlanta | Although she's presently on tour in Japan, my daughter Kaki makes her third national TV appearance on Wednesday:

Her performance was taped at NBC Studios on March 15. She plays one of my favorites--"Magazine" from her second CD and uses her latest prototype Adamas. The Carson Daly Show comes on way too late for me (1:30-2:30a.m.), so I'll catch it on videotape.
She played at the Fukuoka Blue Note on Saturday night, and her flight to Tokyo yesterday departed less than an hour before the 7.0 earthquake hit the area. (I tell you, the Kings have been ducking bullets all their lives!)
She definitely has fans in Tokyo. She sold out both of her Tokyo Blue Note shows (with no opening act). She said there were numerous Sony executives there, so she was very grateful that the fans turned out.

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | Watched it this morning. I think that was her best TV appearance yet. She looks like she's getting really comfortable on TV. It's great that talanted musicians like Kaki are getting some attention. It's one thing to be a great guitarist, but to pretty much invent a whole new way of playing is unbelievable.
Thank goodness for TIVO, or I would never see anything later than 10:00! I normally fall asleep while trying to watch some show or another. |
