Hi Folks,
Does anyone have any information on a 12 String Deacon or Breadwinner Limited. I've searched the web and have not found another like it. MWoody from www.doremi.co.uk suggested I check out this site and see if anyone has one and/or has seen one before. The pic below is the one in question.

Thanx a million!
Martini

Martini,
Hi, welcome, you came to the right place. I am no expert on limiteds, but maybe click on link to the left where it says reference and then click on solid bodies. And I thought I was obsessive. :)
Also, maybe search here for past posts that talk about limiteds. Be forewarned, some of these threads are as funny as they are educational. Ok some are really neither but....
Actually someone in 'for sale' section is selling one presently and I believe Paul Templemen is selling one also. (maybe Paul's is a deacon 12) Both are located overseas, so on top of costing about $1k (am I way off here??) there would also be shipping.
Where in CT are you? PLease tell me the package stores stay open past 8 o'clock now. It sucked having to drive to Rhode island everytime I want alchohol and it's past 8pm. anyways...hope it helps, peace from boulder, colorado mike

Correct me if I am mistaken guys. I don't think they released any Limited as 12 strings. I think they were re-constructed like my Deacon 12, at a later date.

That's the first 12 string neck I can recall without binding and fancy inlays. It makes the case for a few Limited 12's out there.

Martini,

Pray for rain at "Our Lady of the Blessed Sandtrap" and maybe CWK2 can add a bit of a history lesson to this string.

What kind of information were you wanting to learn? My guess is that since there only about 500 "Limiteds" there where very few 12 string models. No binding and dot inlays would make it a 12 string Limited Breadwinner. Maybe a dozen or so made at best.

Ebay prices for the Limited have been under $2K USD - but if a 12 were offered it would be interesting to see what happens!

There was a 12-string Limited in grey-burst finish that went for about $2000 last year on Fleabay. Pretty sure it had the plain neck as well.

Thanx for the info so far. What I'm looking for is the year it was made (I figure around 77 since the last numbers of the S/N are 77 and Limited's where made between 75-80) but would like to know how to confirm this. If it's a breadwinner and/or deacon. How many others where made... and why Ovation hasn't responded to my emails :) Also for insurance reasons I'd need some history on this guitar and cost. All that for a surprise LOL! hehe

MWoody - my boyfriends band is BigED, out of New Haven Connecticut, USA. the website is gotbiged.com

Thanx to everyone who replied. I'll keep checking back.

Hi Martini, the sin #'s don't work like that. An E plus six digits as I suspect yours is, would date it at '80 or '81.
You could look at the pot dates to get a "not before" date, assuming they are all original.

They were made from spare parts so they could be a mixture of binding/no binding etc. the time frame suggested is right.

Thanks Bill!

So does that mean I can keep on making originals?
