I'll start by saying, that for style reasons, I would dearly love to get hold of a BW, and they seem to be very rarely seen in the UK. Was there some, erm... "interesting history" to the previous eBay auction? That feedback score makes me nervous. Very nervous, particularly at spending (starting bid of) GBP300 to a brand new eBayer. That said, is a potential BW worth that risk? Is my best bet to avoid this like a bad case of the plague, and drop Al a line to see if there's any chance of him getting hold of one? I do worry... Cheers, all. JB

Some loser has simply copied the description and one picture and reposted hoping to make a fast buck. And he's not too bright either...to describe the guitar in almost exactly the same way, right down to the serial number. The first seller has over 200 feedbacks so that is the legitimate auction. Avoid this one? Oh yes. Wayne

Given what we know/strongly suspect, is there anything that I can tell eBay to help protect someone? Well aware of the motto Caveat Emptor, and the associated "if anyone's daft enough to send upwards of GBP400 to a zero feedback member, then they deserve anything they get" (must be a catchier way of saying that!), but it seems a shame. Not trying to drag the OFC name into anything, or profit for myself (can't afford this now, due to financial changes since my initial interest above) as I'll use my eBay account to report if I can. I'm just not sure where to start... If anyone has any ideas, do PM or mail me in case this discussion may land us in hot water. I'll have a look round eBay to see if there's anything I can spot easily. Cheers, all. JB

Not as many people are bidding on it as you might think... the reason it's a private auction is so he can hide his fake shill-bidding ID's that are driving the price up for possibly one poor fool. And no, unfortunately eBay won't do anything proactive; they will only kick someone off after they've been able to successfully defraud someone. But the bright side is, it's likely to get a Uk buyer that will want to pick it up, and then the seller will have to have the goods. Possibly he was just lazy when copying the ad, too lazy to change the serial number. I'd pass. Les :)
