Are there any OFCers out there who are sitting on the fence and need a little encouragement to make this pilgrimage?

I DO still enjoy the physical "tour" part of it very much (especially the stuff that's "new" from the previous year), but some parts (for me, at least) are a bit "been here, seen this"). In those instances, I'll hang towards the back of the group and enjoy the utter wide-eyed fascination of the FirstTimers in the front row. Last year, I especially got a kick out of watching Masters Moody and Hizzoner. . . . When we pulled up to the Factory and walked across the lot to the front door, Moody was like an eight-year-old on Christmas (no Witko! . . NOT hairless and wearing a bow on his head!!). I'll have to agree with something that Miles stated a while ago: I too, have been to many factory tours, open houses, Dog&Pony shows, whatever . . . Ovation/Hamer's hospitality, cordiality, and just absolute in-your-face intimacy are first rate! If anyone's even MARGINALLY considering doing it . . . just DO it!!! Just getting an opportunity to put a face to the name and finally get to shake a hand and spend some time with the fellow whack-jobs that you pretty much deal with here on an almost daily basis ALONE . . . makes it worth the time/money spent for the trip . . the rest is very, VERY nice icing on the cake. do it.

And it is always nice to finaly put a face to a name or to finaly see the process that you have always wondered "How'd they Do Dat". Wish I was going to go. I have been to Winsor Locks/ Bradley airport a few times in the past never knew how close I was to "O's" base of operation, wished I had. To those going Dang, have great time, The beer up north is great, especially the many micro brewery selections. That is always a great way to start off your trip So please, punch a few down in memory of the OFC members that can't make it. And take Muchos pictures and have FUN. Mike

If I was already stateside I'd be there. BTW - I expect an invite to NJ and Va while I'm there. I plan to dump (sorry - leave) the boss and the kids with the in-laws in New York.

Has anyone contacted the Llama action concil, after all Llamas are people too. I think it's a sad day in America when we take away the rights of Llamas to vote. Just my thoughts Sleepy Harp Hopkins

They are fully aware of their options in life and choose this path because they wanted to, not because they were forced into it and believe me, they are well paid.

Remember to check the dumpsters behind the factory, there may be enough scraps for a pretty decent Guitar. :) The snow should be gone by then.

On June 17th, I have a gig for a local charity, so I can't drop everything and jump on a plane, then a bus, then a transatlantic plane, then another bus, then probably a taxi... Believe me, I know where I'd rather be. Surely no-one who hasn't been would pass up such an experience? Maybe I can sort a trip over for the '06 trip. I'll be watching this space for dates. JB

Joined: November 2004 Posts: 88 Location: Dayton, Ohio | last year was my first time. my dad has been an ovation fan for a while and he brought me on the tour last year. i fell in love with ovations and hamers. last year i didn't really have a guitar of my own, i could hardly play, and an ovation was a distant dream. i'm so excited to have my very own usa ovation this year to be able to rock out on with everyone! i'm also hoping my lead guitarist (who's coming with me) will fall in love with hamers. i can't wait! i've planned a whole vacation around it!

In reality (although I get the point).. it would only be "jump on a plane, then a bus, then a transatlantic plane" From there you would just shuttle (or almost walk) to the hotel. Any other transportation is taken care of.
