Location: CT | Hi guys, been away a while but I could use some advice.
My 87-ish Elite has been performing flawlessly, with little or no maintenance, since I bought it. (I've bragged about this the whole time without considering the jinx factor.) Last night I restrung in preparation for a gig tomorrow (!!!) and the guitar mysteriously developed a bad buzz at the 11th fret (and only that fret) on the 6th string. Who knows, maybe I wore the bridge just slightly pulling the old string out - the straw that broke the camel's back. I was able to temporarily resolve the issue by wedging some paper under that string at the bridge (and that'll have to do tomorrow...) I don't want to shim the whole bridge insert and comprimise the playability of the guitar - otherwise perfect.
So I got to thinking - maybe I could "paint" a hard glue of some kind onto that one saddle, then polish to the right height/shape. The trick is in finding an epoxy that won't affect the tone transfer to the piezo, won't eat into the bridge itself, won't look like hell, etc.
Any advice? Am I even on the right track here? We're talking 1 note on the entire fretboard, so I can't see looking into fretwork, wacking the truss rod, or replacing the whole bridge insert. |

try a tweak on the truss rod and see if that makes it go away. or play 5 string like Kieth richards |

Location: CT | Hey, Al. Nope, same gauge. But the tone of this set was a little off, so maybe I got a bum set and the tension is different. Weird though, it takes a signficant shim at the bridge to get the string off the frets when I play that note now. Could be a seasonal thing - I had doors open for the first time this year yesterday - but I've never touched this truss rod and never wanted to. Sad to have to start futzing with it now. The rest of the guitar feels perfectly familiar, which is why I'm leaning toward modding that one saddle somehow.
Don't think I can get away w/ 5 strings tomorrow night LOL. No Stones covers on the list. |

You could replace the whole saddle, which just lifts off of the pickup. They are available at customer service.
It would be like starting over from scratch and you wouldnt have to worry about it for another 18 years or so! It would be much simpler than building up the slot with something and hoping it works.
I did this to my 1688 Adamas and it cured the problem.

Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | Try a slight adjustment on the truss rod. Its not the big deal you may think it is. Follow the instructions on the manual, you'd be surprised at how easy it is to get perfect action, without buzz, by adjusting your neck truss rod.
