I've updated the serial number list to make it much easier to use and also includes example photos. Let me know comments, changes, additions, complaints, etc. The following models are included:

U681
2005 Collector
1537 Elite
Book Elite
FD14 Folklore Deluxe

Well done Dave!!
Paul's 1537 looks just great.

...the serial # on my 12fret Uterus is actually 21138--not 22138

Looks great, Dave. Just wondering whose 2005 Collectors is pictured?....it doesn't appear to say "Collectors" on the truss rod cover like mine does.

If anyone is interested, I know where there is a Book Elite (which I believe to be NOS, the shop used to be an Ovation dealer) in a shop in Indiana. The shop has a very high price (over $3000) on it, but if you want to see if you can get them to see the light.....e-mail me and I'll tell you where it is. I played it at length; even though the strings were quite dead, it sounded very good.

It's mine. I didn't like the stock TRC, so swapped it for a traditinal one.

Okie-dokie. Yeah, it's a little over-the-top, I would agree.

Since I don't have access to the unlimited TRC's that Dave seems to possess, I merely turned mine over. Looks a lot better that way!

You bet. Makes me shed a tear for when I played the one they had at Elderly Instruments and $1400 seemed like such a LARGE sum of money for a guitar at that time(I had barely gotten back into playing and even $500 seemed a lot then).......

If you want SOUND, the FD-14 is the real deal, if you want bling, get a Al DiMeola Custom Legend (and still get good sound, just not quite as good as a FD-14).

The Sound.
The Look.
The Materials.
The Appointments.
The Workmanship.

Think- original Adamas with a wooden top.

They were the very first Elite and there is not all that many of them still around.

Use the search feature on the board and research 1537's. You'll learn a lot.
