For those of you that keep tabs on competing manufacturers, the T5 relased this week over in Taylor-ville is all the rage there. I'm not overly interested in the guitar as it is way out of my price range. The demo videos are something else however. I could only dream of being able to work my way around the fretboard like Doyle Dykes. Maybe not the flashiest player I've ever seen, but THAT is music that just won't allow your toe to be still.

DD is great! Kinda like Chet on steroids (can I legally mention steroids these days?). Watch the clip. You'll enjoy it.

The T5 is very similar in construction to the Viper, but it has electric and acoustic pick-ups with a 5-way selector. Street prices begin at $2K and go up from there. Taylor claims that it can produce acoustic sounds, electric sounds and everything in between. It sure sounds great in the hands of a master like DD.

Taylor does deserve some credit for their marketing of the guitar. The T5 will be featured in a new Dave Matthews video.

I think the Dave Matthews video is up there too under "T5 TV". The Jason Mraz video is very cool in my opinion. Not so much for his T5 guitar playing ability, but for some outstanding vocals.

Doyle Dykes is awesome - he was at CMS last year. Unfortunately it doesn't look like he's going to make it this year.

http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/t5/feature/Performance.aspx

good products + good marketing = success

btw, taylor don't give their artists free guitars. the artists have to pay with their own $$. look at their web for featured artists, signature artists, clinicians ...
