This is the before and after photo of an Adamas II fretboard. The board was badly worn and scalloped and the job the factory guys did was sheer magic. That's NOT a whole new fretboard. They somehow leveled, finished and refretted the original. I wish NEW ones looked this good. Kim, John and the guys are just amazing. And NO, this is not covered under warranty.

Wow, that was one well played Adamas. I had kind of worn into the fretboard on my 1687. This is beautiful work, those guys do work magic at the factory.

job well done!! it's no magic. the fretboard was polished & is now thinner. it costs $$ to be done by the factory though. probably $350+ plus $80 shipping.

Very impressive! The work is absolutely phenomenal. What will you use to keep the fretboard conditioned and intact? Can you post a pic of the entire guitar?

I was wondering if it was yours because I don't see it on your website but you DO have quite an awesome collection there. Priceless.

Why would you want the "new" look rather than the well used and loved look? It's all in whatever you want I guess but I personbally like that used but not abused look. Guitars always sound better with 100,000 miles on them, why not let it look like it made the journey as well?
Just my 2 cents.

If the fretboard is slightly thiner now, were the nut grooves deepened and the saddle lowered slightly, to compensate?

first please don't feed the troll.

second. I prefer the worn in look too. I have an old tele that is just perfect.

as for thinner I am sure your fingers can tell the differences of thousandths of inches.

also why speculate on job costs when you can get the correct price from the service department or dave

I, too, love the character and wear of a well-played old guitar. I recently got a 1962 Strat that looks like something SRV would love but other than a couple of mods that I'm having reversed, it's going to stay that way.

In come cases, fugly is beautiful!

I think the reason Dave did it was not because of the worn look, but because the fretboard had become scalloped. A like of players don't like the feel of a scalloped fretboard and Dave's action is the only recourse if you want to keep and play a terrific guitar.

I believe that Dave did it because he's such an incredible player that he could feel the differnce in the fretboard and it threw off his rapid, John McLaughlin type playing.

Either that or he thinks it now looks better.

I have no problem with the well worn look (you should see my telecaster). But this was unplayable, the scalloping was so bad. And you could use the frets as a steak knife. I couldn't see paying to refret such a badly worn fretboard, so went for the whole job. I'll have pics on my website soon. The guitar is a 1581. Dave

I like scallops but can't eat them as often as I like because of the purines.

I thought he made a type-o and was constipated from all the hydrocodone.

Nice pic's Dave. Did they have to move all the inlays up 1 fret or just that one? :D
