The board was badly worn and scalloped and the job the factory guys did was sheer magic. That's NOT a whole new fretboard. They somehow leveled, finished and refretted the original. I wish NEW ones looked this good. Kim, John and the guys are just amazing. And NO, this is not covered under warranty.

It's all in whatever you want I guess but I personbally like that used but not abused look. Guitars always sound better with 100,000 miles on them, why not let it look like it made the journey as well? Just my 2 cents.

I have an old tele that is just perfect. as for thinner I am sure your fingers can tell the differences of thousandths of inches. also why speculate on job costs when you can get the correct price from the service department or dave

I recently got a 1962 Strat that looks like something SRV would love but other than a couple of mods that I'm having reversed, it's going to stay that way. In come cases, fugly is beautiful! A like of players don't like the feel of a scalloped fretboard and Dave's action is the only recourse if you want to keep and play a terrific guitar.

And you could use the frets as a steak knife. I couldn't see paying to refret such a badly worn fretboard, so went for the whole job. I'll have pics on my website soon. The guitar is a 1581.
