if anyone wants to get back on target, I've purchased 6 guitars, 1 bass, 1 keyboard, 2 amps, a trapset, and various accessories from musiciansfriend and have never had a complaint about price or service. ps I've shipped bells to the uk from the us via ups with no problems too, it's just very expensive. Whitechapel handbells to be precise. ding=a-linging for 28 years! ~sl

Check again those prices, they now have one of there Legends for $599.99.

I bought two Rogue guitars during there spring sale. A simple acoustic DA100 for $39.00. It plays and sounds great! Cost me $50.95 for guitar, stand, and shipped to my door three days later!

I also bought a Rouge herringbone A/C for $89.00! This guitar has the Fishman 4 classic pick-up. Sounds GREAT!

Cheap, but hey, if I bring them to school and they get dinged around...big deal!

Norse(great deals!)man1

Yup. Couple hundred under what I paid for my 1867 less than 2 years ago... :(

Ah, well. Still on my honeymoon with my 6778LX!

Hey Waskel...you're right!

They either marked them back up, or it was the Black that is no longer listed.

They also raised the price of my DA100 Rogue back up to 59.00...they were down to 39.99 two weeks ago.

Sorry about that! They do move their prices a lot. Their Oscar Schmidt 030 (semi-hollowbodies) have been listed anywhere from 119.00 to 149.00 depending on the flyer, internet or catalogue over the past few months. Their OE40 (hollowbodies) went from $240.00 to $219.00, back up to $229.00, then down to $199.99.

Hard to figure.

Yeah, they do change them a lot. Are you sure it wasn't the 1867 you saw? I know they dropped them way down when the 1777LX came out, maybe they were clearing out some scratch n dents they found in their warehouse.

Well, it was a Legend, I remember that much. It was a cutaway, traditional soundhole, and I thought it was natural finish. It was not a scratch and dent model though.

Anyway, didn't mean to cause confusion. I was going to mention it when I saw that price a few weeks back, but I wasn't sure if that was that great of a price anyway.

I will say, I was a bit hesitant to buy a guitar from Musicians Friend (without seeing it first), and I had problems with an Oscar Schmidt, but they took care of it quickly, and without any hassle!

NP, Norse. $699 for a new Legend, LX or not, SS or not is a great price in my book.

Hey Mike! Well it turns out the pick-up in my CC65 is a different style. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, been busy with domestic things. Anyway, the pick-up in my CC65 is a flat pick-up that runs underneath the saddle, not the thineline that craddles the saddle. It is also directly wired to the control box, so I can't plug in the one you sent (unless I cut the wire, and I didn't think I wanted to try that and potentially ruin one of the pick-ups). Anyways I will be sending it back to you just as soon as I can.

Thanks for offering to help me out bro, it is much appreciated!

As far as the CC65, I have a friend that would love to own a 12 string, and has been helping me with some work around my house. It still amplifies o.k., but my friend plays mainly acoustically anyway. I think I will give it to him as a thank you gift for being such a good friend. I guess that makes it a win-win situation for both of us (beings we will both feel good about the CC65). It may also encourage him to continue playing.

Take care, and I'll try to get that out to you this weekend!

Norse(thanks again)man1

I just joined OFC - because I just received a beautiful new cherry cherryburst 1867 Legend from MF for $599.99 - there was a short window before all were sold out. I am extremely impressed with everything about this guitar. I tend to be more traditional about my acoustics, but bought this one figuring I could return it if I didn't like it. No way - this is a keeper.

Welcome to the board, Squawk. Glad to hear that you more "traditional types" can make room for a "non tradtional" instrument and that you are pleased with your 1867.

There are others here who own non-plastic guitars...but we....I mean they... are hard to find, cause they only scurry about when the lights are off.

Welcome Squawk!
I'm glad to hear that you have stepped out of (and away from) the "box". What other guitars are in your stable?

Thanks for the welcome!

In the acoustic/acoustic-electric arena, I have 3 Guilds (D50, JF12-30, B4-CE); 4 Martins (D-15S, SPD-16, Paul Simon 2, and a B-1), 2 Gibsons (Montana Blues King and a Chet Atkins CEC), a Taylor NS44, a Larrivee D60, and now an Ovation 1867 Legend. BTW, I got into acoustic guitars and basses rather recently as I primarily gigged and recorded on bass roughly from 1965-1975. I can't say any one ax is my favorite, but I will say the Ovation has the most comfortable design of any guitar I ever played - the shallow bowl and light weight are great for us middle-aged guys with a gut :)

One question - if I move to a slightly lighter string, say 11s, would I be looking at needing a professiional setup to maintain intonation (which is perfect with the factory 12s)?

Dave -

Thanks - I'll probably sell a few one of these days, but it's tough as I like them all.

I checked MF's closeouts this morning, and prices are back up - the 1777 Legend that was $699 yesterday is back to $899 today. Other closeout items similarly returned to former higher prices.
