I was wondering if anyone has taken the plunge on one of these ?
Some pretty attractive models) for lovers of the original style Ovations.
Personally, I'm quite partial to the natural finished Legend reissue. To me it's a guitar which really has that Ovation look and with the OP 40 and a pretty reasonable price, it's a nice package.
Do I need one.................No

If you put your mind to it, I bet you could convince yourself you do actually NEED one.

With all due respect to the LX's and the 05 Collectors and the Adamii reissues, the traditional series Ovations are absolutely great guitars! They have a great "woody" tone not too far off of my 1537 and they look just wonderful. These guitars are a reissue of the Ovations of the 1980's which was a great time for Ovation. While the supershallow bowls were making their debut, the deep bowls, with the A bracing pattern were making some great music.

Get one richardd. You'll be glad you did. Then sit down next to somebody playing a Taylor and prepare for your B.O.G. (Big Ovation Grin) to get even bigger.

The Elite 1718 is one of the re-issued traditional deep bowl guitars. It's probably as close to a 1537 re-issue as your going to see from factory. I don't think that there's much of a market for a re-issued 1537 because the price would be too high.

They're on the Ovation web page under whatever model guitar they are. Check under the Legends and Custom Legends.

I blame you Jeff !

There I was quietly minding my own business, blissfully ignorant of the new models until these new catalogues land at my feet.

Now I'm keen on several models but that Legend really appeals to me. I feel I could probably justify a "just because I want it" buying decision as I only have two O's in the stable.

BTW, for those who have the Traditional catalogue, why does the black Custom Legend have a brown bridge and what looks like a natural finish on the back of the neck. It looks awful. I own a 90's model and it has a black bridge and neck. What's the deal ?

I saw a new 1719 Custom Legend on eBay and I agree about the bridge(the back of the neck I prefer natural with the 5-piece stripe, though).

The picture on Ovation's website also shows it with a black-faced headstock, and the one on eBay did NOT have it, it was wood tone; I didn't care for it, although I realize it was the way the original looked. I wanted it with an ebony bridge and a black-faced headstock.

I WAS intending to get a traditional until I met a 2005 Collectors......
