I think he's lasted this long because he's never wasted time playing notes that didn't need playing.

Long live Keef . . . may he continue to defy modern medical science. . .

Nobody should be surprised he's still with us.

Let's hope Keef has the good sense to stay out of trees today.

About 10 years ago Rolling Stone had a 'best rockers of the decades' feature — the best lead guys, best singers, etc from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. In a category called something like 'human wreckage', Keef won every decade.

My Mom loves talking about Keef... She is amazed at how well he has aged.

To here her tell it, he looked Half-Dead in the 70's when he was in his 30's...
But he hasn't changed a bit in thirty years, so now he looks downright Good!

She is also looking into the full-body-blood-transfusion-thing. She thinks that might help.

Happy Burstday, Keef!

I know that today's his birthday, but that doesn't mean he's still alive. Didn't he die about 40 years ago, but nobody bothered to tell him. Certainly looks like he's been decomposing about that long.....

"I say good luck to people who want to emulate me, but they better realize what they're getting into; they better know that there's more to this than attitude. It's about the music; it's about the blues. That's what sustains me."

Within the last year or so there was a long interview with Keef in one of the upmarket UK Sunday papers. He was getting ready to go out for dinner with his wife and daughter (exact relations escape me). During the two hours of the interview Keef drank a bottle of brandy and smoked a hand rolled cigarette of enormous proportions which was considerably less than 100% tobacco.
A lot of people have just plain died hanging out with Keef down the years. To say he has the constitution of an elephant is to flatter elephants.
