I came to this site about November of '03' and enlisted with alpep for a 1778-4. No regrets!

The LX has the right feel and sound. I can pluck, strum, hammer and pick it to get a wide variety of textures. It is very responsive to say the least. I play in a Worship Band with bass, drums, and two other guitarists. No issues being heard or working with a variety of PA's and systems.

My style is a cross between Folk ad Bluegrass with a lot of hammer/pulls and Travis picking.
The Elite LX is a must try guitar!

I have a 6778LX (which is the model below the 1778LX), and it's a great guitar. But my favorite is my 1778T (the new one with the LX upgrades-you can tell by the truss rod cover on the headstock). Great sound, great look, great feel.

I have the 6778LX as well. Looked at both mine and the 1778 at the same time, and didn't notice a $200 difference in the sound. I love the NEB, the deep rich tone, and I prefer the satin neck over the gloss.
Of course, mine is special, having a self-installed XLR.

I have the C778LX, one step up. I think the differences in the 6778, 1778, and c778 (all LX models) are all cosmetic. I think they all pretty much sound the same. Take a look at my gallery. The abalone and finish on the C778 is BEAUTIFUL.

I would agree concerning the cosmetic differences. The only thing that's kind of amusing to me, is the grade of spruce, A to AA to AAA. I wonder if the difference could be detected in the sound. Other than that, the ebony fretboard and bridge are only on the 1778LX & the C778LX. That may affect the sound quality, only because ebony is a harder wood, and may help the transfer of vibration to the top via the bridge. I would agree with Waskel concerning the color NEB (New England Burst). What a striking color. I was blessed to get one in this color!
