Location: Parrish, FL | Came across a 1717 in 9+ condition w/ case. I know it is worth what I'm willing to give for it, but what are the groups thoughts on what this should sell for? Ebay is all over the place.
Also, what are the positives and negitives on this guitar?

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | Roundly, I'd think around $450 to $500 would be right. I've never played a 1537, although it has a fantastic reputation, which I will accept as deserved. Generally, I've found the multi-sound-hole guitars to have a little more bass than the round-sound-hole guitars.

Yes, I guess I should have said too close to the 1537 to meet my next purchase criteria. I'm kinda, sorta in the market for an inexpensive mid-depth O with a cutaway. My 14 yr old daughter has quit high school band to play soccer and tennis, but is still interested in music. She is fairly talented musically and expressed an interest in the guitar. The 1537 is too big for her 4'11" body to fit around.
So...

Location: Parrish, FL | Yep Paul, that is my problem also. My guitar budget is wiped out for a good long while. Jumping on this one would cause WAY too much grief on the home front to make it worthwhile, especially since the offical announcement of the total job transfer where my wife is working to their home operations was made this morning. On the bright side, the rumer is it has been sold and will continue to operate.
It's a real shame because I bet $400 would bring this home. Oh well, the hunt is half the fun!

Location: SoCal | Preamp. And depending upon when it was built, the bracing on the top and the neck. But the serial number indicates the different preamp. |

For $300 i just don't think you can go wrong. It seems like a good price. Like i said before, if I could swing it, i'd pull the trigger. There's just way too many other priorities for me right now. By the way Rick, It's A bracing. |

1617 has no TRC and single-knob preamp. A bracing? |

Location: SoCal | The 1617 was from the 1970's. Usually a single knob (volume) acoustic electric. VT-10 braced. Truss rod.
The 1717 is a 1980's guitar. OP24, A braced, with a K-bar. |

Location: closely held secret | Ok, Paul. I'm pretty sure this one is from the early 80's, probably near the end of the run of 1617's. It has the stacked knob with volume and tone. No TRC. Tobacco Burst.

But for some reason they're only giving me the first 4 digits - 2573xx. Is that a pawn shop thing? |

That guitar is an early 80's instrument. K-bar and A braced. |
