From the serial number, it appears it was manufactured in probably mid-year 1982. The model number is hand written in ink on the Ovation label. Was this common practice in 1982? The "code cracker" info on the Ovation website does not list a model 1129. I'll send pics if anyone is interested. Thanks, Dan

According to Kim at Hamer/Ovation: "The guitar is an Artist-depth acoustic Custom Legend, a model we have never made. This guitar could have come about in two ways; it was custom ordered that way, and rather than using the 1119-X (custom order) model number, it was configured as a 1129, with the 2 signifying a shallower bowl, much like the difference between an 1117 and a 1127. The other and more likely possibility is that the top was replaced at the factory, the neck cut down, and a mid-depth body was used at the request of the customer. Cool guitar." I've created an album in the Photo section so if anyone is interested, check it out.

This guitar is a custom,Custom Legend(special order) with an "artist" bowl instead of the std. deep bowl! Look close at the picture and you'll see a faint letter "A" between the serial# and model# sticker probably to denote "artist" depth! I've never noticed any markings like this on mine or any other's I've seen and thought it was unusual! Anyone else have a letter "A" stamped in their artist bowl? (I'm leaving myself wide open with that question! :D )

Guess a custom order would definitely be another possibility. Roger

The A on the bowl is either an inspection stamp or a designation of which die the bowl was made on, not the artist depth(sorry). Chrome hardware, another indicator of a speicil made one. Custom Legends all had gold. Nice guitar and I bet it sounds great.
