Have a real hard time thinking this is any kind of OVation. I don't think the applique on the headstock is a label, I think maybe it's an audience cue  Does it light up?

Generously donate that guitar to a middle schooler and teach him power chords. It's doubtful that an open chord would sound in tune on it. But who knows? You may have the only good one.

Around 135$us to 200$us in 1988 (probably cheaper in USA). APPLAUSE SOLID BODY AD I've never found anything else about these models. J :)

This one is made in Korea. But well done, to be honest. I've played a lot of worse guitars. I picked it up the other day, and I couldn't believe it was in tune ... my boy just got done doing some dive bombing. The Ovation labeled floyd rose works well. Not sure who made the pickups but they seem a lot like EMGs. I paid $125 for this one and it was worth every penny. I see hot chicks in this boy's future. ;)

Joined: September 2005 Posts: 2 | i read a review on harmony central that seems to describe this guitar, and it was a positive one. http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Applause/Stratocaster-1... my thought is that even low end guitars from the 80s are often made of better wood than a lot of medium to high end guitars nowadays, so i basically figure if i need to replace the pickups and electronics and maybe the neck with a WD or mightymite i might have something halfway decent.
