Location: Nashville TN. | Suggested retail $949.50 giving it likily street price of $650ish. It has a 5 letter inlay on the neck.
I wanted the 3 letter inlay likeit had been done
Thunderbolt & Tornado at the factory before;
on my 1719 I bought last year.
I was quoted $1000.00 just for the inlay.
I am not at all happy to see this.
I will go straight to livid if thats a USA
guitar. |

Location: Tennessee | Hey PEZ ... I looked at the material on the Ovation Guitars site. It's an Elite T, but I'm sure it is from an asia-based factory. They've moved the Elite T there and it makes sense to put out an artist guitar at a price point that is reachable for the fan base. This is probably a whole different quality level than what would have come out of the custom shop in New Hartford, hence the price differential. |

But they already have Korean T's on the market...

Pez, your quoted inlay work was 1) custom, 2) hand done and 3) retrofit. $1000. is a pretty fair price IMO.
This 'seven' is a mass produced POS where the CNC machine probably just routes it out and some koorean slave laborer fills it in with pre-cut inlay material.
Weather it's USA or asia would not be worth me losing sleep over.

it wasn't a retrofit and easier to do before the frets are put in.
They had done twice in the past for me.
Its sea shells glue and little bit of routing.
I had from other companys too. Fender Custom shop
was $300. $50 to $100 per letter installed is a fair price. A real high price $150 per letter.

Location: Phoenix AZ | Well, you know another possibility is what I deal with in my own company. We NEVER say no to a customer. No matter what they want us to design, build, whatever. But if it's something that we just don't want to do for some reason, we price it out of the ballpark so that it's the CUSTOMER who says NO, and not us. That could very well be what's going on with your request to Ovation.

Any chance of stocking the OFC Store with PEZ dispensers of our favorite OFCers?
Llama, Cliff, Witko (changes names every time you reload), Moody (Aloha shirts are interchangable), Alpep, etc.
The least favorite would be the Trader Jim - it only holds half the candy before it spits it out again.
The CWK2 is the best! It's actually 2 containers and holds lots of candy and every once in a while a hidden compartment opens up and you find a prototype or two... |

Depends on when it was made... Elite T's were made in the USA until this year.
Really New Elite T's will be made in Korea.
I have not actually touched a Korean T yet, but some online stores had people 'pre-ordering' the import T's. If you are getting it from a brick-and-mortar store, you can look on the back of the headstock. There it will say USA if it is made here.
The MT37 is just a 1778TX ('X' for X-bracing) with 'Seven' written on it.
You realize that you could get a 1778TX and put your Own Name on the fretboard! :cool: |

Location: Tennessee | The MT37 is a great guitar. I think it is made offshore ... the price would be $2K if it was a US guitar. BUT, it doesn't matter where it is made if you like it. Hey, they can make great guitars anywhere ... and Ovation is not trying to sell these at $200 so you can count on it being a quality instrument. |

Location: Helsinki, Finland | Thanks guys for quick reply :) As you can see, even an old headbanger like me is getting intrested in Ovation guitars! I've known the brand, but newer really given any thought's to it.
This one caught my eye cause the flat neck, ebony board and the pre amp. Allso I've been a fan of Mick for quite some time :rolleyes:
I got a pretty good offer from a dealer in US. MT37 + hard moulded Ovation case for under 700 USD! Here in Europe you have to pay 1400 USD only for the guitar! |
