Watching the Bonnie Raitt / Stevie Wonder video brought this to mind.
I like live music. In most cases I would rather see a band crank out a song live than with all the studio effects. I think it says something about talent when a song can be done live and well.

I would agree with that, especially today where a studio can "enhance" practically anything musically or vocally. Sometimes you hear great stuff on cd, show up at the live show and come away very disappointed. 'Course now they do it live as well with backing tracks, etc. Not a good trend for music in general but you know how it is - supply and demand. And as long as they go after the 10 - 12 year olds, it'll continue...

Good live music is a treat. That's why I always try to be aware of who's on Austin City Limits. Jack Johnson was good a couple of weeks ago, and Beck was on a couple before and was very entertaining.

Years ago a lot of bands, couldn't produce their live music up to the level of their recordings. With the sound systems today, and concert halls designed for live musical acts, live concerts sound great. I always wondered if we had that ability back in the 60's if the Beatles could pull off a concert featuring "Sgt Pepper's" and "Revolver". Dream on heh. Beats, 3 Vox amps at Shea Stadium.
