It says Kaman on the inside sticker. It is made in connecticut. Is it possible it is just a Kaman Matrix. Or just an early Matrix, simply called Matrix?

No volume or tone Just plug it into the box and into the P.A. control the volume from there. I wore the aluminum neck out 3 times before Ovation talked me into a 1612-4 Custom Balladeer. The Matrix got sold with a wore out neck, It was scalloped pretty good. I still have the 1612-4 Custom Balladeer along with a 1612 Custom Balladeer and a Legend 1667 Cutaway and a Legend 1756. All are still mint and get played regularily. If you work under hot lights and sweat alot the aluminum Neck Matrix probly will wear out quickly. Great playing Guitar though!!!!!!

It's not much to look at, but it sounds gooood, and plays great after I did some bridge/saddle work. I recorded an original song a few days ago, using only the matrix, and sent it off to Dave. If he decides to use it on his compilation CD, you'll be able to hear how the old axe sounds. ;)

I pretty much assume that if it say's "Kamen" on it, it's still an "Ovation". Like yours, it say's "Matrix" in large letters on the headstock. Mine also has the rosewood board, plays great, and sounds fantastic. It and my old beat up Legend have become my two favorite acoustics that I've ever owned.
