hi all,
this is my first post here.
I have a standard balladeer 1771 that I bought a month ago. recently I noticed that the high e string is quieter than the other strings when plugged in. I suspect I need to take it back and get it fixed under warranty. is there any "trick" that might fix this?

I'm not an expert, but I know that those piezo crystals in the transparent strip under the saddle must line up under the strings. I found this out the hard way while removing shims from the bridge. The strip came out of the groove. I put the strip back in reverse order and my G string lost sound, similiar to your concern. I just reversed it and all was well.

The shim may be shifted too far to the low e string. Make sure everything is centered under the strings. I lost the sound on the low e after I removed a couple shims. It returned when I shifted the white plastic thingey to the low end of the guitar.

one thing the owners manual DOES NOT say is that the shims is under the nut/pickup assembly, the brass cradle and the nut stay together, luckly for me my guitar was still under warranty, still embarrasing though, and if santa keeps her word, uh hum. i am getting a new celebrity deluxe for christmas, .working my way up the ladder, merry christmas all..

I had the same problem, Doug, when I tried to remove the shims from my daughter's guitar. You don't want to take the saddle out of the metal cradle. Do a search for idiot and white plastic thingy and you'll find my thread.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't taken the saddle out or removed any shims. It has bounced around in the trunk of my car. Could that move the white plastic thingy?

Not likely. There are a lot of less stable components. This is beyond my meager knowledge.
