Though I have visited this site from time to time, I didn't formally register until a few days ago... So, hello to all & nice to meet you.
I own a 1869 Customer Legend SS (& an Adamas CWT). While I really like the CL very much & it's good enough when plugged in, the sound is of course a bit too thin acoustically. I have read various posts in this forum regarding the new Contour Bowl and I'm now struggling if I should upgrade my 1869 to C2079LX (as it's finally available in the local store here in Hong Kong). Is it worthwhile to do so? Any thoughts?
P.S. One other challenge to face is how to "get rid of" my 1869 if upgrading to the 2079. We don't have a big 2nd hand market in HK...

Location: SoCal | Andy, I guess the question is, what's your guitar need? If you play acoustically, then your 1869 is not the right guitar. You should have either a mid depth bowl, a deep contour bowl (both found in the LX line up) or an older deep bowl. If you're playing mostly plugged in, then there would be no advantages to a deeper bowl.
We can't advise you until we know more.

Location: Phoenix AZ | I agree with Moody. I will only add that I have owned two of the model 2079LX, one black and one sunburst. They are extremely nice guitars. To me they are the absolute best wood top guitar that Ovation offers. Dave |

Thanks for your replies... Yep, I should have given more specific info in the first place.
I'm using my guitar in 2 main areas:
1. Playing acoustically, and in most cases singing along some old English pops or Cantonese pops
2. Plugging into my Boss BR-864 8-track recorder to do some recordings at home
One of the reasons why I'm struggling is because I also have the Adamas CVT W597 Cobalt Blue which is a mid-depth already. I could say using the 1869 CL to do the plugged-in recordings & Adamas for acoustic plays so there is no need to upgrade anything...
P.S. Really glad to become a member finally.. Many of the discussions here are very informative & valuable, esp. to a guy like me who is living in the other side of the world. Thanks to all.

Location: SoCal | Andy, you may just want to stay with what you've got. It sounds like you've got your bases covered and if you're happy with the guitars you have, there's probably no need to make a change. |
