Joined: May 2003 Posts: 4389 Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | OK, keyboards are chopped liver. But the next list should included, A-tuned guitars, samisen, 6 string baritone, 12 string baritone, bajo sexto, tiple, quatro, charango, nylon 6 string, Weissenborn style lap, lap steel, pedal steel, electric bass, upright bass, acoustic guitar bass, resonator guitar, electric solid, electric semi-solid, electric hollow. Other instruments would be those that are played with left hand holding a fret board or sound board, and strumming or plucking a string. So by this definition a violin, harp, zither or hammered dulcimer would be out, but a mountain dulicimer would be in. Can you guys think of any others to put on a poll (which I'll do)? It would be interesting to see how many different types of guitar family and close relatives (like the banjo and samisen) we all play. | ||
