I've been reading though some posts on Thegearpage.net.

Find it funny that "good" sound is always described as if it were a piece of fudge or something. Always seems to be related to texture too.

Lets See...

Chunky, Creamy, Crunchy, Buttery, Smooth, Crispy. ..etc..

Does that mean when it sounds bad we can give it other food adjectives?

"Hey man, that sounded kinda gamey" ..lol

"My sound was so pithy that day!"

I think it is because everyone can relate to food.

Plays like Butter, on the Smooth and Creamy side...
But has a Crunchy, Meaty, Beefy side that you can sink your Teeth into!

Sound or tone is very difficult to describe. So certain terms have been accepted -- especially in a group that has an ongoing discussion. If you were pressed to describe the tonal difference between a Les Paul, a Stratocaster, and a Telecaster -- how would you do it? Or try and describe the difference between a P90 and a, say, Seymour Duncan '59N pick-up, what terms would you use?

Put a single coil into overdrive and you'll hear "crunch", or lay on the bridge pick-up of a Telecaster just before it breaks up and you'll hear the Tele "spank". They're just commonly accepted terms for sounds that are typically produced from classic gear that folks have adopted as a "standard".

BTW, The Gear Page has a deep wealth of information among it's members. Of course, just like any virtual community, it has it's wankers too.

Sounded like a shit sandwich yesterday (am I allowed to say that?) but as sweet as honey today.

I'm a man of wild extremes. :)

Hang on a minute....a tele has a "twangy" sound...

and that spaghetti sounded heavy, yet with fleeting highs... :)

Played today like an "RC cola and a Moon Pie".
