Joined: January 2005 Posts: 640 Location: boulder | yeah, I know--thought you lost me in the traffic-I was reading the OFC, but not posting that much last fall. Then, wham. I was seduced. taken in by the other side, just obsessed with....electric guitar and guitar pedals. To make a long story short, D'pergo, Lentz, and C.P. Thornton are my favorite small builders. If you are into certified aged wood necks(I mean 500-600 year old wood) and obsessive attention to detail, check out stefan d'pergo's guitars. (Bolt on strat and T). He actually has his own metal shop and wood shop. He makes his own screws for his guitars. And yes, I respect anybody who has their own metal and wood shop. :D If you want a neck through semihollow body with killer tone. Try the Cp Thorntons. Small builder in Maine. Nice guy, loves to talk guitars. Impeccable craftmanship. Scott lentz is another favorite. great ear for wood tones. Hand winds his own pickups. His necks are pretty sweet to. Maybe it is just me. But these guitars speak for themselves. And effects pedals, oh man. there are to many, but BJFE, lovepedal, Pro analog and Noc 3 are what I like. As for me. This moment I am in Connecticut visiting, although I am really living in boulder (stephen I swear it!!) The good thing about visiting Connecticut for me...all my left behind guitars can now come out to Boulder with me in the rental minivan i drove here. so anyone wanna buy a guitar or two?? And just so you don't think I have (completely)lost my mind, Here is a picture, taken in my RENTAL HOUSE. (note mind altering wallpaper circa 1978). 1680, 2080-12, Q598. Here is what I will say about the 1680-no one told me it came with gold frets..and head to head against my 000-28vs, the 1680 more then held it's own acoustically-which surprised me because my 000-vs is a monster!!!and most amazing in it's own right. The 2080-12 string happens to be the first one ever made thank you very much...!!! (and thanks again Al).-switched the logo for elite style fret markers. It sounds like two 2080's. Better really. The Q 598 may be the last one made-unless some other sap orders one brand new from the factory. But I doubt it. BTW-this is a unbelievable sweet sounding ax. The only down side is-no OFC guitar for me. But I sort of have that 1687 slot thing covered. It's good to be back. peace mike ![]()

I was just thinking about you and our last discussion about recording some tunes. Well, the refurnished/refurbished studio is 95% in place and ready to record! :D Just hooked in the Lynx Aurora AD/DA converter with AES16 card and it ROCKS! Preamps include Pendulum Audio Quartet,A-Designs Pacifica, DAV BG1, and OSA MP1-L3. Got a Smart C2 and Pendulum Audio ES-8 for Compressors and for EQ some API, A-Design EM-PEQ, and Avedis E27's. Nice selection of mics...Peluso, Neumann, Blue, Pearlman, AEA, Shure, modded Oktavas, and a few others. oh yeah...and we need to record some of YOUR GUITARS! So no excuses.....we need a hook up when you " return from vacation "

(I am hoping to visit stefan D'pergo this thursday if all goes well) peace mike    ;)
