Larry and Al going nuts on "Spain". If you can get through the bad audio it's worth it. |

Location: NJ | Last weekend I was pokin' around the local CD shop in my town and came across an obscure Steve Goodman CD recorded live in this tiny Chicago club. Steve was playing an old Legend, and it I think it might of been the first time I've ever seen him playing an Ovation (and I've been a long-time fan of Steve's). . .
It very well coulda' been a "stage guitar" that belonged to the club.
The picture shows this TINY stage area with a BIG ol' angled-front Shure P.A. head hanging on the wall (by chains) stage-left and above the performer's head. I suppose everybody did their own sound, there.
(Now I don't feel so bad) |

I got one in the mail as I was leaving work today that you'll LOVE. It was a tribute concert that was done in Chicago about 8 months after he died. A bunch well-known (and not-so) doing his songs.
It was always one of my "DesertIsland" CD's and I haven't heard it since me and the ex split. I tried for the longest time t'find a copy & couldn't. I checked a link on the previously mentioned CD and ordered it. The drive home was miserable going with snow & sleet, but I just stayed in the slow lane and enjoyed every minute of it.
I'll make you a copy t'take home when you come out in May . . . |

Location: SoCal | Clifford, I've heard of that concert and have always been on the lookout for it! A copy would be great.... Goodman was loved and respected by a whole lot of great musicians and performers.
Do you have the video of his Austin City Limits performances? If not, I'll bring it out. |

Otherwise the good P.I will have no option but to make a citizens arrest and impound your entire collection as evidence! |

Pickup plus microphone is a great strategy for a quality live sound. A microphone will always sound better than a pickup. Blending both is a good compromise between tonal purity and feedback threshold, much less of a tonal compromise than pickup only and much louder than a microphone by itself. |
