| Hello, new to this forum. I have a chance to pick up a used Ovation that is listed as being a model SACP247. I played it and fell in love with it, but I can't find any info on this anywhere. I think it might have been made in 2003 and the few Google hits I found on CP247 make me think perhaps this model wasn't sold in the US.
Can anybody tell me anything about this model? I have scoured Ovation's site for info and can find nothing. |

And I found this pic on a Used Guitar Center list...
The going asking price seems to be about $400
I'm guessing that this is just a CS247 with an OP-30 preamp.
Since it has Quilted Maple top, I would guess that it is a laminate.
I have owned my share of Celebrity's, and that looks like a nice one.
From what I can glean from the web, this was probably special because of the Quilted Maple & the OP30.
Plus it has a mid-depth bowl.
Although you can find many Celebrity's with that layout now, it may have been less common then.
And... Welcome! |

| Thanks! I did see that info at Guitar Museum, but I know very little about Ovations in general (or acounstics for that matter). The asking price is $399. It played beautifully and I like the tone with the strong mids. Doesn't sound like a "normal" acoustic, and I guess that's both good and bad depending on your taste.
Anybody have any comments about this series, negative or positive? Things to watch out for? |
