| I have a rare Ovation acoustic/electric that I absolutely adore....it has the OP-24 preamp built-in.
A couple years back the preamp just....stopped working. No apparent reason. I changed to a brand new battery and still nothing. If the preamp is switched on the signal is cut. I can still plug the guitar into an amp and jam, but only with the preamp switched off. The preamp constantly shows "battery low" even with a brand new battery. I suspected a loose battery box connection but it seems to be fine.
Does anyone know how to REMOVE a preamp from the side of a guitar without damaging it??? I want to get a good look at whats going on in there which is impossible while it is inside the guitar.
It seems like its just sealed in there....
I very carefully tried scoring the outside edge with an exacto knife but that didnt seem to make a difference. |
