I've found the best way is this:
put everthing at 7, low, mid and treb, and then remove the offending freq. I've found it better then making everthing flat and then, adding what is lacking.

What I usually wind up with is treb at 4, the mid at 5 and the low at 6.

I don't know what setup your guitar has. I have OpPro's and I leave the 3 sliders flat, with the little EQ button pushed in (a little more depth). I never experience any feedback trouble with the OpPro's.

EQ's flat, the (Al Dimeola) button in and let the sound Tech figure it out!

For the Viper, medium-high EQ on the treble slider, high on the bass slider, slightly higher than midpoint on the middle slider.

For the two knobbers, just slightly off midpoint toward treble.
