just won a complete op pro setup with can, harness, boost button, pickup, and xlr/1/4 out..

op pro setup

checked with John B. at the mothership as to prices and since just the preamp sells for what I paid, I think I did alright.

now which deep-bowl should I upgrade?

1613 or 1111?

Glenn

for those of you that have successfully completed one of these transplants, I would really appreciate hints, tips, tricks and any templates or assembly aids that you may have devised.

I'm going to use this on the classical... but there IS a nice folklore for sale... hmmmmmm...

Glenn - if you want it, I can include the template that I used to install an OpPro in a 1112. I'm shipping the tuners tomorrow, so I can put it in the same package. Let me know.

thanks Mike much appreciated...

when/if the operation is successful, I will offer the stereo preamp, pickup, and battery box/harness to the BFLG if anyone has a need or would like to electrify one of theirs.

Thanks,

Glenn

or...... since you've already done this... would you like to borrow a classical for a while and do the swapjob? :p ..... you can add the old elx to your stash, and we could work out additional compensation if necessary..

Glenn - the tough part for me was the pickup. Is your bridge slot wide enough for the new saddle/pickup? If not, you'll have to either route out the existing bridge or replace it. I tried the former and ended up doing the latter.

Cutting the hole for the can once I had the right position (based on the template) was easy. Installing the can - easy. Installing the jack (mine didn't have the XLR, only the 1/4") - easy.

I would be glad to do all of the cutting (can, jacks, etc.) but I'm really leery about the bridgework.

Jason - if that's the case then it should be a relatively easy job.

Mike, The 1613 is already routed for the OPP.. will just be switching the mono in and the stereo out..

I may be hoping for too much.. but looks like I could mount the xlr-1/4 board in the same spot as the 2 original jacks.. just making one of the holes larger to accept the xlr.. that would leave just one hole where the preamp controls were by the neck.. and a 3/8 plastic plug should take care of that pretty handily...

so would just have to cut for and mount the can.. and drill 3 holes for the boost switch if the xlr comes close to matching up.

if you're up for it... I'll ship it all to you, and even give you the storm pups for your troubles.

And I would of course expect you to perform a long series of stress/performance tests and evaluation before returning it.

should be interesting.

Thanks,

Glenn

wow....1000 posts...

I wanted my 1000th to be the unveiling of the UKXII but like I said before.. Brett does good work.. but sometimes ya do wonder if they're ever gonna get finished. he is making good progress and he is a perfectionist/artist.

hey at 23 I wasn't the most focused lad either.
